Super Cup Massi at Sea Otter Europe, competition in the heart of an international festival

The Super Cup Massi was created in 2018 to unite the country's four best cross-country races.

One of the most spectacular events will be the one held as part of the Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava-Girona Bike Show by Cannondale. A track fully enclosed within the grounds of the festival, which is sure to translate into large audiences and an unparalleled biking atmosphere.

This 6-kilometre course will put your fitness and skills to the test. With no large climbs or descents, it offers riders no time to rest, no time to lift their foot and catch their breath. Though not a technically challenging course, skilled riders will be able to capitalise on their technique thanks to a design replete with curves and changes in pace. It will require you to keep a good line, maintain your speed and save your energy for the race's explosive finish.

The race will take place mere metres from the Expo Zone, where thousands of people will be on hand to see the industry's latest developments and where, after the race, you can relax and mingle with knowledgeable MTB fanatics. You might even say that it is the best race to attend with family and friends. There will be dozens of activities, food trucks and all kinds of exhibitors. From cycling brands and clothing to tourist destinations.

Once again, Ocisport, the organiser of the event, has shown its commitment to promoting high-quality racing in all cycling disciplines and to giving the women's race the central position it deserves. The ladies will have their turn on Saturday 9 June and compete among themselves in the most comfortable way possible.

On Sunday it will be the men’s chance, with three starting times to give the racers in each category sufficient space on the Sea Otter Europe course. The main event will be the last, which will put an end to a spectacular weekend of top-level international cross-country racing.

This will be the third race in the Super Cup Massi (following the events in Banyoles and Barcelona), with only the competition in Vallnord in September left to run, making it an important event after which it will become clear who has a real chance of clinching the overall title. The race will also earn participants points in the Biking Point International Catalan Cup, as the sixth event.

It is important to remember that this event is a UIC C1 category race, a status that, in addition to the presence of the finest brands in the exhibition area, is the perfect magnet for attracting world-class riders. Last year, David Valero, the highest placing Spanish cyclist in the World Championships and current Spanish XCO champion, engraved his name on the race trophy as the race's first winner. Another illustrious cyclist, Claudia Galicia, did the same in the women's category. Will they claim victory again in 2018?
