Shimano Iberia joins southern Europe’s great XCO championship, which will celebrate its 21st edition in 2022

Shimano is an innovative brand with more than 100 years of experience in the cycling industry, and by joining ranks with the mountain bike championship a world-class partnership will be forged.

Since its foundation in 1921, Shimano continues to contribute to cycling, both professional and recreational, by promoting a healthy lifestyle and the enjoyment of nature.

Shimano develops cycling components and accessories such as technical clothing and shoes, with which the world’s best athletes compete. All these products incorporate a high level of technological development and unparalleled functionality, allowing them to stay one step ahead of amateur’s and their imagination.

Moreover, Shimano is committed to the most important competitions worldwide, such as its collaboration with the Union Cycliste Internationale, as an official sponsor of cycling events such as the XCO World Cup. At national level, Shimano Iberia, which has just celebrated its first anniversary since launching in the Spanish market, wants to ally itself with cycling fans and offers support at the most important competitions in Spain thanks to its Technical Assistance Service for races.

Shimano Iberia is delighted to be part of this project and to help promote one of the most important XCO Championships in Spain. ‘For us it is a pleasure to work with the most outstanding MTB teams and riders in the world and to have the opportunity to share the excitement and come into contact with fans at each of the events. Shimano’s MTB components (XTR, XT, SLX) have been held in high regard by riders for many years and our goal is to continue working and improving to be able to keep up with the needs of top riders’, says Cristina Pizarro, marketing director of Shimano Iberia.

Added environmental value

For both Continental Super Cup Massi and Shimano one of their aims is to be environmentally friendly and both are committed to a healthy lifestyle.

For its part, Shimano is constantly looking for new ways to promote health and happiness through the enjoyment of nature. Shimano is involved in several programmes that promote respect for the environment and, through their packaging, they take the opportunity to reduce waste and make it more sustainable, using less plastic, less ink and the use of a paper blend.

Shimano will take part in the championship’s seven events which consist of UCI HC and C1 races:

  • Banyoles - 26 and 27 February - UCI HC
  • La Nucía - 5 and 6 March - UCI C1
  • Barcelona - 2 April - UCI C1
  • Santa Susanna - 23 and 24 April - UCI C1
